About Casa Hogar

The City of Arcelia
The Casa Hogar story is a story of cooperation between people who had a heart for orphan children. The dream for providing for the children of Arcelia, Mexico started with two Dallas-area churches, Prestoncrest Church of Christ and Turnpike Church of Christ.
Both congregations had done missions work in Arcelia for years, and had explored building an orphanage in the city, but the cost of building one was prohibitive. Enter local Arcelia civic leader Perla Blanca, who also felt led to provide for orphans in her city, and built an orphanage facility. But there was one more need: an organization to run it.
Prestoncrest member Bill Bledsoe knew that Buckner International provided orphanage support programs, and invited the organization to be a part of the Casa Hogar story.

Arcelia Family
Founded in Dallas, Texas in 1879 by Dr. Robert Cooke Buckner, a Baptist pastor, Buckner has continued to mirror “Father” Buckner’s deep compassion for the helpless and hopeless that served as the driving force behind his ministry. His core values for ministry sprung from James 1:27: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress.”
